Recap: Vikram and Sana had a memorable anniversary
*********************
It was a calm morning, sunlight filtering through the resort curtains as Vikram and Pugazh sat leisurely, sipping their steaming cups of coffee. The peaceful moment was interrupted by the sound of laughter and footsteps. Sana entered the lounge area, holding her little daughter Sara in her arms.
Vikram’s eyes immediately found her. With a teasing smile, he threw her a wink. The effect was instant, Sana’s heart fluttered, and she looked away, biting her lip in an attempt to hide the blush creeping up her cheeks.
Trying to distract herself, Sana looked around.
“Brother, where’s my sister-in-law?” she asked with a playful tone.
Pugazh chuckled. “Where else would she be, other than sitting in front of the mirror with all her makeup?”
Just then, a voice came from beside him. “Oh really? But I’m right next to you, dear husband.”
Startled, Pugazh turned to see Pranitha giving him a mock glare. “Pranitha baby, you look beautiful,” he tried to cover up smoothly.
She crossed her arms. “Don’t try to change the topic now, Mr. Pugazh.”
From the kitchen area, Amudha walked in, shaking her head at the lively banter. “You all can’t stay calm for even a few minutes, can you?”
Pugazh grinned. “It’s just some harmless fun, mom.”
“But aren’t you all supposed to head out today?” Amudha asked, glancing at Vikram.
Vikram nodded, checking his watch. “Yeah, Ricky will be here any minute. Then we’ll head out.”
Sana rocked Sara gently in her arms. “I’m not coming,” she said suddenly. “You all go ahead. I’ll stay back.”
Vikram looked up. “Why, Sana? What happened?”
“We’ve already been away from Sara for the past two days. I don’t want to leave her again today. I just want to be with my little girl.”
Pranitha tilted her head. “Are you sure, Sana?”
“Yes, sister-in-law,” Sana replied with a warm smile.
Pugazh put down his coffee. “Then let’s cancel the plan.”
“Oh my God, no!” Sana exclaimed. “Don’t do that. You all should go ahead and have fun.”
But Vikram was firm. “No, Sana. If you’re staying, we’re not leaving you alone.”
She chuckled. “In that case, at least let bro and sister-in-law enjoy some private time.”
Vikram widened his eyes dramatically. “Ooooooh, that’s a good idea.”
Pugazh grinned. “My dear sister!”
“Bro, have fun,” Sana added, laughing.
Just then, Ricky entered the resort with a professional smile.
“Good morning, sir,” he greeted.
“Hey, Ricky. Morning!” Vikram responded. “Today, you’ll just be accompanying my brother and friend. My wife and I are staying back.”
“Understood, sir. I’ll take them to Hamilton Island — it’s perfect for couples.”
“Sounds good,” Vikram nodded. “Take care of them.”
“Of course.”
Pugazh and Pranitha soon left with Ricky. Back in the room, Sana gently placed Sara on the bed and Vikram followed her inside.
“Sana ma, are you really okay staying back?” he asked, watching her closely.
She smiled. “Yes, Vikram. Honestly, I’m really tired. I need rest, and besides, they deserve some alone time.”
Vikram narrowed his eyes, teasingly suspicious. “Hmm, I thought there might be another reason.”
“You always have wild thoughts,” she rolled her eyes playfully.
“Hey wifey,” he leaned in closer, “are you sure we have no plans today?”
“Shut up, Vikky. We’re spending time with our daughter. No more talks.”
Vikram smirked. “Okay, but once my princess falls asleep, what do we do?”
Sana laughed. “Then I’ll sleep too.”
He leaned in and kissed her forehead gently. “Alright, sleep well. I won’t disturb you. Just teasing.”
“I know,” she whispered with a smile.
The couple then spent the rest of the morning playing with Sara, enjoying her giggles and tiny claps.
Meanwhile, across the ocean on Hamilton Island, Pugazh and Pranitha landed by helicopter. The island was breathtaking — a perfect romantic escape.
“Sir,” Ricky briefed, “we can explore dive sites like Stepping Stones, Paradise Lagoon, and Manta Ray Drop Off.”
“That’s great,” Pugazh said, turning to Pranitha. “Shall we go diving?”
“Of course!” she replied, eyes gleaming.
They spent the day deep diving, swimming with vibrant marine life, and taking in the serenity of the island. Afterward, a special lunch was arranged for them by the shore.
As the sun began to dip below the horizon, they approached Ricky.
“Ricky, let’s head back to the resort,” Pugazh said.
But Ricky smiled. “Sir, your brother has made arrangements for your overnight stay here. Let me escort you to your resort.”
Pranitha raised her brows. “Looks like bro’s gone all out.”
Pugazh smirked. “Hmm, guess this is our second honeymoon then.”
Ricky led them to the private villa. “Call me in the morning if you need a return ride.”
“Will do. Thanks, Ricky.”
“Pleasure, sir. Goodnight.”
Back at the original resort, Vikram, Sana, and Amudha were enjoying a calm evening with Sara.
“When are we heading back home?” Amudha asked.
“Maybe in a day or two,” Vikram replied.
Sana kissed her daughter’s cheeks. “Sara’s first vacation…”
Vikram smiled, “Where should we plan the next one?”
“Not so soon,” Sana said. “Let Sara grow a bit more.”
“Hmm, alright.”
“It’s getting late,” Amudha reminded. “You both should sleep.”
That night, as they were fast asleep, Vikram’s phone rang. It was early morning. He stirred, careful not to wake Sana or Sara, and glanced at the screen. His face tensed immediately.
He quietly stepped outside to take the call. Sana, half-asleep, noticed Sara stirring. She sat up to feed her, her mind racing with questions. Who could be calling Vikram at this hour?
Minutes later, Vikram returned, still lost in thought.
“Who was it?” Sana asked, concern in her eyes. “What happened?”
“Nothing, baby. Just some office issues. Don’t worry,” he said, kissing her forehead.
“Are you sure? Your face tells a different story.”
He tried to lighten the mood. “Is that so? What does it say?” His voice dropped into a husky tone.
“Don’t distract me. Tell me what’s going on.”
“Really, it’s nothing serious. I’ll handle it. Now, feed our princess and give her to me.”
Once Sara was fed, Vikram cradled her and walked around the room, gently patting her to sleep.
Sana couldn’t take her eyes off him. “You know… it’s good to see the young, sharp businessman Vikram like this.”
He turned and raised a brow. “It’d be better if you saw me in other ways too.”
She narrowed her eyes. “You won’t stop until I smack you, will you?”
“I was talking about business, only business,” he grinned. “What were you thinking?”
“Nothing!” she said quickly, looking away.
“Liar…”
“Come back to bed once Sara is asleep.”
He laid Sara in her crib and slipped into bed, holding Sana against his chest.
“Sana,” he said quietly, “shall we leave tomorrow?”
She looked up. “Sure. Something is bothering you. I won’t ask… but I’ll wait until you’re ready to tell me.”
“Don’t burden your little brain with such thoughts. I’ll take care of everything.”
The next morning, Vikram called Pugazh and informed him they were leaving the island. Embassy arrangements were already in place.
Soon, Pugazh and Pranitha returned to the resort.
“Hey Ricky, thank you, man,” Vikram said, shaking his hand. “You made this trip unforgettable.”
“My pleasure, sir. Hope to see you again.”
“Definitely. Take care.”
They packed up and boarded their private jet back to Chennai. Though Vikram’s face stayed calm, his mind was clouded with thoughts. He was aware of his enemies… but now he needed to unmask the mastermind—the one behind everything that happened to Sana.
He was deep in thought when a sharp pinch to his arm brought him back to reality.
“Ah!” he winced. “Why did you pinch me?”
Sana folded her arms. “Don’t pretend. What were you thinking?”
“I won’t say ‘nothing’… but tell me, why did you pinch me?”
“Stop changing the topic.”
He smiled. “Alright. Just trust me, okay? When the time comes, I’ll tell you everything. Until then, stay close to me and follow my lead.”
“Okay,” she whispered.
He took Sara in his arms, allowing himself to momentarily forget the storm ahead.
The next day, they landed in Chennai and were picked up by their car, accompanied by guards as usual.
“Everyone freshen up. Let’s have dinner,” Vikram said.
He took Sara, and Sana headed to their room to get refreshed. Vikram joined her after finishing a quick phone call. Dinner was served, and soon after, everyone went to bed, exhausted.
The following morning, Vikram was dressed early in his office attire. He gently woke Sana.
“You’re ready already?” she asked groggily.
“I have an important meeting. I’ll be back soon.”
“Okay,” she said sleepily.
“Take care. Call me if you need anything,” he said, kissing her forehead before heading out. Pugazh was already in the living room.
“I’m bored at home,” Pugazh said. “I’ll come with you and get a tour of your office.”
Vikram agreed, and the two men left after informing the family.
Back at home, Sana stood by the balcony, worry etched on her face.
“Something’s off,” she muttered.
Pranitha joined her. “Even I feel something’s not right…”
Sana nodded. “I’ll be in the room. I don’t want to leave Sara alone.”
She returned to her daughter, her heart quietly preparing for the storm Vikram was shielding her from.
