The opposition party headquarters buzzed with energy and glowed beneath layers of fresh flower decorations. All state secretaries and senior leaders had been summoned for an urgent meeting with the party head. With Vaishnavi’s arrival in Delhi and the sudden gathering of top members, speculations ignited across the nation and Ayaan ensured every whisper reached the headlines.
Vaishu got dressed with quiet dignity, draped in a simple cotton saree, her hair tied neatly in a low bun. Reyansh, Hari and Leela wished her luck and Ayaan called Sameer to confirm that every layer of security was in place. Once everything was cleared, Vaishu stepped into the car. Sameer, now officially working for her too, took the front passenger seat while a convoy of vehicles moved ahead and behind her.
Upon her arrival at the opposition headquarters, senior members greeted her warmly, adorned her with ceremonial shawls and flowers. Cameras flashed relentlessly and celebratory crackers burst outside, signaling the arrival of a formidable force. The entire nation watched in stunned silence as Vaishnavi, once a powerful figure re-entered the political arena.
Inside the headquarters, the party head welcomed her with folded hands. The media was intentionally kept out, as the party had arranged its own team to capture every moment. Vaishu addressed the assembled leaders, steady and poised, before the party head draped the official party shawl around her neck. Together, they raised their hands marking the beginning of a new chapter.
Photos of the moment were instantly uploaded on the party’s website and social media platforms, officially welcoming Vaishnavi into the party. Sameer who had also been inside the auditorium uploaded Vaishu’s photo with the party head with a perfect caption.
Soon after, she walked alongside the party head toward the conference hall, where the media waited for the press meeting to begin.
The moment Vaishnavi stepped onto the podium, the media erupted.
“Madam, why have you suddenly returned to politics? Madam Vaishnavi, why join the opposition when you were once a strong pillar of the ruling party?”, Questions fired from every direction. Vaishnavi lifted her hand and the hall fell silent almost instantly.
“I’m here to answer every question,” she began in her steady and commanding voice.
“Serving the people has always been my purpose. My dream is a nation where every citizen’s standard of living rises not just a privileged few. That is why I entered politics and that is why I will never walk away from it. I stepped back not to retire but to rise stronger. During my silence, I watched, observed and gathered what the people deserved to know. And what the nation witnessed in the last four days is only a fraction of the corruption that has been rotting the system for years. I am ashamed, deeply ashamed that I was once part of a party that fed on the blood and sweat of the people.” Her words echoed through the hall.
“As for why I joined the opposition, the answer is simple. The previous party head lacked the vision to lead a nation. But the current opposition head has integrity, clarity and the heart to guide this country forward. And I will stand by him until the nation rises again. From today, my fight has only one goal, to save this nation from corruption. The truth will Lead, the nation will rise. Let’s restore the nation’s dignity.” her voice roared with conviction.
The live telecast of Vaishu’s speech went viral within minutes and people across the country began celebrating her return. Suryadev, who had been watching the broadcast from his office, finally understood that everything that had unfolded over the past few days had been meticulously planned and that Vaishu and her family had executed it flawlessly.
He dismissed everyone from the room and remained seated, staring at the screen, replaying the speech with a grim expression.
Ayaan, who had been watching the telecast live, ensured his mother received the respect she deserved. Without wasting a moment, he called the head of the new PR team he had put in place for the political campaign and instructed him to circulate the videos across all social media platforms and every news channel in the country.
Ayaan sat in the large conference room surrounded by his team, watching the news channels play nonstop footage of people celebrating Vaishu’s return to politics. Video after video showed crowds—women, men, youth, elders gathering in streets across the country, chanting her name. District secretaries from multiple parties across the country were resigning from their positions and joining the opposition in waves. The state headquarters overflowed with new members and Ayaan’s PR team ensured that Vaishnavi Rey was trending everywhere.
Once satisfied with the momentum, Ayaan called Sameer and instructed him to move to their next phase of the plan.
As planned, Vaishu stepped out to meet the crowd gathered outside the party office. The debaters on live news debates were stunned, nobody expected her to walk into the public, especially after the assassination attempt four years ago, which the entire nation believed had forced her into silence.
Moments later, Reyansh stormed into the conference room. He slammed his palm on the table, teeth clenched in fury.
“Why did you let Vaishu walk out in public, Ayaan? Her life could be at risk. Did you forget what happened four years ago? Call Sameer right now and stop her” he shouted, his voice cracking with fear.
Ayaan immediately held his father by the shoulder, urging him to sit, but Reyansh’s glare was sharp enough to cut.
“Dad, calm down, how could you even think I’d risk Mom’s life? She’s safe, no one can get close to her. Those people outside… they were screened. Every single one of them. They’re ours.” Ayaan said firmly and Reyansh froze.
“The public wants a leader who stands with them, not someone ruling from an air-conditioned room. Sameer is carrying a device that scans for explosives within a forty-meter radius. The jammer is active and no one will even notice, everyone is focused on Mom. Trust me, Dad… we failed once, but not again.” Ayaan said and emotion washed over Reyansh as he finally pulled Ayaan into a tight embrace.
Ayaan exhaled and spoke again, softer this time, “Dad… we need to meet Advik before anyone else does. We need names. We need everyone involved in the bomb blast. I’m still waiting for the full retrieval of data from Baskar’s mobile.”
Reyansh hummed in response . He opened a water bottle, handed it to him and then called his PA to arrange food for everyone in the room.
Ishaan, Pari, Zara, Ishika and Adhvika had been watching the coverage nonstop, each of them overwhelmed with pride seeing Vaishnavi stepping back into the world that once tried to destroy her, now stronger than ever. Tight security lined the entire stretch of the manor and hundreds of volunteers from the party poured in to offer their wishes.
Ayaan had already spoken to Ishaan, ensuring the volunteers were not stopped. The police made arrangements so people could drop flowers and party flags at the designated area outside the manor. Staff had been assigned to collect everything and refreshments were served to the volunteers who had taken time to come show their support.
Zara watched all of it unfold from the balcony, pride swelling in her chest. She was truly amazed by the scale at which Ayaan planned and executed everything. His mind, his strategy, his precision, she had never seen anyone navigate chaos with such calm control.
After lunch, she returned to the bedroom and continued watching the broadcasts.
” If you can plan something of this magnitude… why didn’t you just try to find the truth before breaking my heart? You could have ignored me, rejected my love, anything would have hurt less than calling me a placeholder “ she thought painfully and at the same time her phone blared right startling her.
She exhaled bitterly. “This man has a habit of calling the exact second I think about him… But very soon, Ayaan, you owe me answers. I can’t keep living in this delusion,” she muttered before answering.
“I miss you, Mrs. Ayaan,” he said instantly, with that soft, warm tone that made her heart stumble.
Zara didn’t know what to reply, she just let out a small chuckle.
“How are you, wifey ? And did you see the news? What do you feel?” he asked, sounding eager for her reaction.
“I’m fine, Mr. Ayaan. And yes, I’m watching. Ishaan bro has locked us inside the manor on your orders and I think our nation just found a great Chanakya. I’m proud of you, I’m truly flabbergasted.” she said and Ayaan smiled on the other end, ruffling his hair in shy delight at her words.
“Miss you, Wish you were here so I could kiss you and recharge myself. I barely slept… I need you. Two more days and I’ll be back home” he murmured and took a long breathe, ” Do you miss me?” he asked her.
“What exactly do you want me to answer?” she asked him and Ayaan groaned dramatically. “You’re too bad, wifey. Alright, take care. Enjoy the time with your brother, sisters and those two little partners of yours. I’m going to steal you forever when I’m back.”
Zara smiled despite her confusion and hurt. Ayaan went quiet for a moment. He wanted to say more….wanted to tell her he loved her but he couldn’t. Not before he laid out his whole truth.
“Bye, Zara,” he whispered and cut the call.
He stared at his screen for a long moment, the wallpaper where Zara was smiling, her eyes soft, her face glowing.
The day felt painfully long, stretching endlessly until exhaustion weighed on every breath. At last, night fell and Vaishu returned to the bungalow with Sameer. Leela welcomed her with an aarthi and warded away the evil eye.
The moment Vaishu saw Reyansh, she rushed straight into his arms, exhaustion and triumph colliding in her chest. Ayaan watched his parents with a soft smile before pulling his mother into his embrace, earning an irritated groan from Reyansh.
Vaishu ruffled her son’s hair, but the moment her fingers brushed his head, the memory of the diary flashed through her mind like a violent wave. A single tear escaped her eye. Reyansh, who noticed instantly, wiped it away with a firm shake of his head. They couldn’t reveal anything….not before speaking to Zara.
“Mom, you must be exhausted. Freshen up, we’ll have dinner together,” Ayaan said gently, releasing her.
He returned to his room, took a quick shower and settled on the couch with his laptop. He watched the detailed report sent by the team, outlining every movement of Suryadev and his circle. They were unusually quiet…too quiet like predators crouching before a strike or men scrambling to find a way to survive.
His phone rang. Seeing the CSO’s ID, he answered immediately.
“Sir, I received confidential information. During the raid at Advik’s old bungalow… the men recovered a mobile and a diary. But only the mobile reached you.” he said and Ayaan froze hearing the information.
Ayaan inhaled slowly. “I’ll check with my grandfather. For now, maintain that I’m unaware of any diary.” he said and the CSO hummed in response.
Ayaan ended the call and stared at his reflection in the mirror, his mind racing with thoughts.
” Why would Grandpa hide something from me? If there was a diary, it must belong to Baskar… And if Grandpa hid it, then Dad must be involved too. Why would Dad want that diary? What’s in it? ” he thought running his fingers through his hair.
“They may have the diary but I will have Advik. ” he thought and Steeling himself, he walked to the dining hall. Everyone was already seated, waiting for him. Dinner was served and silence hung thick until Hari Narayan spoke.
“Suryadev must have realized by now that we’re behind everything that’s happened to his son. He’ll assume we know the truth about the blast. He will attempt something… anything to save himself and his remaining tenure.” the old man said calmly.
Ayaan looked at him, eyes sharp. “And what do you think we’ll do?”
“He might disown his son to distance himself to save his image, reputation, his hot seat. Or he could arrange an escape route for his son and stage a ‘search alive or dead ‘to stop the damage and salvage his reputation. If none of that happens, Advik may simply stay silent and refuse to cooperate with investigators. He lost everything so he might simply survive in jail. ” Hari Narayan said, watching Ayaan closely.
Ayaan propped his elbow on the table, thinking over Hari’s words.
“Let him try. If he plans an escape for his son, we’ll bring him under our custody and make his life miserable. If Advik decides to stay quiet, I’ll see him myself. He may not speak to the police, but he might talk to me. I’ve got things to offer, things that will make him cooperate. Either way, we won’t let them win.” Ayaan replied coolly.
Everyone watched Ayaan as he continued his dinner, composed and unhurried.
“Ishaan is just like you Reyansh, yes but this little brat is dangerous. His fury and hunger for revenge are fierce and merciless. His love is as dangerous as his revenge like he is a obsessive and possessive type who would go to any extent ” Hari murmured.
Ayaan smirked and wiped his hands with a napkin.
“I need to talk to my wife,” he said, kissing his mother’s cheek before standing. Vaishu and Reyansh watched him go, their gazes steady and unblinking.
