Rehan and Zavi, now six months old, were happily rolling onto their stomachs. They made endless sounds, smiled whenever someone called their names and loved clutching their toys. They enjoyed listening to the family’s chatter around them and the moment they recognized a familiar voice, their hands and legs kicked in excitement as they babbled back joyfully.

Ayaan had prepared a special playroom just for them, fully carpeted to keep them safe when they would start exploring. Dedicated staff were assigned to clean and sanitize the room and to sterilize the toys after each play session.

Ayaan and Zara were inside the playroom, watching the twins roll over and looking at the the toys placed in front of them.

Ayaan lifted Zavi and made her stand but she curled her legs and kicked in excitement.

“Aww, my princess is so cute,” Ayaan cooed, kissing her cheek. Zavi squealed at the affection. Rehan, noticing his father’s attention on Zavi, suddenly burst into tears. Zara quickly picked him up and settled him on her lap. Ayaan then seated Zavi on his lap and opened his arms for Rehan, who immediately leaned toward him. Ayaan placed both babies on his lap and kissed the crowns of their heads.

Zara set down a toy that flashed lights and made sounds as it rolled. Rehan and Zavi leaned forward, rocking their little bodies excitedly as they watched it move.

A moment later, Vaishu entered with freshly prepared baby food. She handed one bowl to Zara and sat down with the other. Ayaan kept the twins entertained with toys while Zara and Vaishu  fed them.

“It feels like yesterday they were born and look at them now, so eager to grab every toy. I’m sure once Rehan starts playing properly, he will want to dismantle everything,” Zara said. Rehan paused at the sound of his name and stared at her with wide eyes.

“Stop complaining, Mommy. He’s listening,” Ayaan teased. “Our prince is a very good boy. If he takes things apart, it’s only because he wants to understand how they work. What’s wrong with that?” he said, wiping a tiny smear of food from Rehan’s lip.

“Gender has nothing to do with mischief,” Vaishu said with a smile.

“You won’t believe it, but Ishika and Advika used to compete with Ishaan and Ayaan in everything. All four were little monsters. The only person they feared was their father yet Ansh spoiled them more than anyone. Look at this brat now. A responsible father and a complete gentleman. But in his youth? He challenged everyone he met.” she said, pinching Ayaan’s cheek gently.

Ayaan smiled and kissed his mother’s cheek and Zara’s heart warmed at their bond.

After Vaishu left the room, Ayaan and Zara carried Rehan and Zavi to their bedroom for  afternoon nap.

Once inside their room, Ayaan and Zara gently laid Rehan and Zavi on their soft blanket on the bed. The twins yawned sleepily, their eyes fluttered as the day’s excitement began to catch up with them.

Zara brushed a lock of hair from Zavi’s forehead while Ayaan stroke Rehan’s tiny hand.
The moment his father’s warm touch drifted away, Rehan gave a little squirm, demanding to be held.

Ayaan let out a quiet chuckle and lifted him into his arms and Rehan immediately snuggled into his chest, letting out a contented sigh and a yawn escaped his lips.

Ayaan lay back on the bed with Rehan resting comfortably on his chest, the baby’s small fingers clutched his shirt as though claiming him. Within seconds, Rehan was calm, his cheek pressed against Ayaan’s heartbeat, his tiny body rose and fell gently with each breath.

Zara smiled at the sight before settling beside them with Zavi. She gathered her daughter close, cuddling her against her own chest. Zavi curled naturally into her warmth, her little hand fisted Zara’s gown as if making sure her Mama wouldn’t go anywhere.

Ayaan turned his head slightly toward Zara. “Perfect,” he whispered.

Zara nodded her head. Side by side, with their twins asleep on their hearts, the room felt hushed and complete, full of love, warmth and the kind of peace that only a family could create together.

“Look at them, so peaceful now.” Zara whispered careful not to disturb their sleep.

Ayaan smiled softly. “They grow up so fast. I don’t want to miss a single moment. Thank you for everything. For being their mother, for being mine and for being you.” he said and kissed her temple gently.

Zara smiled, a glow of contentment spread across her face. “We’re lucky,” she said, gazing at the sleeping babies.

“Yes… very lucky,” Ayaan agreed and leaving Rehan carefully next to Zavi he moved beside Zara. He hugged her from behind and intertwined  their fingers without a word.

Ayaan’s mobile pinged with a notification. He picked it up and saw a message from the doctor, reminding them about the babies’ vaccinations scheduled for the next day. He groaned softly and immediately buried his face in Zara’s neck.

“I hate these vaccinations,” he mumbled, already bracing himself like he did every single time the twins had an appointment.

With a resigned sigh, he grabbed his phone and sent a message to Sameer to clear all his schedules for the next two days since Ayaan never left the babies side after they got vaccinated.

“What would I do without you?” Zara whispered with a smile.

Ayaan shook his head. “Don’t exaggerate me, sweetheart. You deserve only the best… but you got me. So I’m just trying to be the man you deserve after all the mess I have done.” he said and kissed her cheek gently.

The next day after breakfast, Ayaan and Zara entered the nursery carrying Rehan and Zavi. The doctor was already waiting. Ayaan held Rehan first, cradling him securely while making him giggle with a colorful toy. He gave the doctor a small nod to proceed. Rehan sobbed for a few seconds after the prick but Ayaan quickly distracted him with another toy that flashed lights.

Then he picked up Zavi and rubbed his nose against hers, making her squeal softly. While she was distracted, the doctor administered her vaccine too.

Afterwards, they returned to their room. The twins were a bit clingy and fussy so Ayaan and Zara stayed close, comforting them, rocking them gently and tending to them together.

Rehan and Zavi slept for a while, exhausted from all the crying. When they finally woke up, their little faces looked pouty and miserable. Rehan whimpered the moment he opened his eyes and Zavi’s lips trembled as she leaned into Zara.

“Come here, my little soldiers. Daddy is here. Crying department is open only for today.” he murmured, kissing their heads one after the other.

He placed Rehan on his chest as he lay back on the bed. Rehan made tiny grumbling noises and curled up like a kitten, finally settling down with his palm fisted against Ayaan’s shirt.

Zara cuddled Zavi beside her, rubbed soothing circles on her daughter’s back. Zavi tucked her face into Zara’s chest, letting out soft sniffles.

Ayaan stroke both their backs and whispered, “You two are not allowed to grow up. I’ll resign from every job if you both keep looking at me like this.”

Zara laughed softly. “You already behave like their full-time assistant.”

“Of course, I work under two very strict bosses.” he replied proudly.

A little while later, Zavi lifted her head and gave a tiny whine. Ayaan immediately reached over with his free hand, offering her his finger. She grabbed it tightly.

“My princess has complaints too?” he asked gently. Zavi blinked at him with watery eyes and Ayaan melted on the spot. “Okay, okay, daddy will not move from this bed today.”

Rehan made a soft hungry sound and Ayaan quickly sat up. “Zara, check him. Maybe he needs feeding. And after that, we are giving both of them warm cuddles again.”

The entire day went with Ayaan refusing to attend calls, meetings or even step out of the room. He carried Zavi on his shoulder, Zara rocked Rehan in her lap, they sang lullabies and fed them warm hugs every time they whimpered.

By evening, both babies were calmer, one sleeping on Zara’s chest, the other snoring softly on Ayaan’s.

At night, after the babies and Zara had fallen asleep, Ayaan quietly entered the study with Sameer following behind him.

“Sir, the next schedule for Madam’s campaign is ready. We only have a few more months left before the elections. She needs to complete all ground campaigns now and then we can shift focus to the e-campaign. Your grandfather and the party head have already formed multiple IT wings and they have begun their work. Our PR team and Ishaan sir’s PR team are coordinating for the digital strategy. They are all waiting for your further instructions.” Sameer said, placing a file on the desk.

Ayaan sank into his chair and glanced through the campaign schedules prepared for his mother.

“Talk to the CSO. I want her security tightened more than the current level. Deploy additional trained female guards around her at all times.” Ayaan said, flipping pages.

” Talk to the cabinet ministers who were to ready to join mom’s party. Inform them to resign from Suryadev’s party and join Mom’s party immediately. If there is any statement or reaction from Suryadev, I want to know first.” Ayaan said and Sameer nodded quickly, making notes.

Ayaan then scanned the list of state and central volunteers who would accompany Vaishu during the campaigns. “Did you cross-check the reports submitted by the state heads? There must not be any false or inflated data.”

Sameer gave a small smile. “Sir, I have checked everything personally. I sent a copy to your grandfather as well, and he verified every detail before the final version was forwarded to Madam.”

Ayaan leaned back, satisfied but still alert, his mind already moving to the next step.

Two days later, Vaishu was ready to leave the manor to begin the next phase of her campaign. Before stepping out, she gave the family a long list of instructions and even more specific ones regarding Zara and the babies. She held Rehan and Zavi close, showering them with kisses before Reyansh and Zara gently took the babies back into their arms.

Ayaan opened the car door for his mother and pressed a kiss to her cheek in farewell. As soon as the vehicle left the manor gates, he called the CSO to double-check every detail of her security arrangements and ensure she would remain safe throughout her journey.

Once the family returned to the living room, Zavi immediately burst into tears and stretched her tiny hands toward Ayaan. He scooped her up at once and sat on the couch, softly caressing her hair to calm her.

“Dad, you can join Mom anytime,” Ayaan said casually.

Reyansh only smirked. “You think I need your permission or your security arrangements to join my wife? I know exactly how to surprise her.”

Ayaan rolled his eyes and muttered  “Old man,” under his breath only to receive a light slap on his back from Zara.

The sound made Zavi lift her head instantly, her little face filled with concern as she stared at her father. Ayaan grinned proudly at his daughter’s protective expression and hugged her closer.

By evening, every major news channel flashed the same explosive headline:

“Top Members of the Ruling Party Resign and set to Join Opposition Under the Leadership of Party Head and Vaishnavi Rey.”

The political atmosphere stirred instantly. Reporters crowded outside party offices, shouting questions into their microphones as cameras zoomed in on every expression and movement. Analysts on primetime debates were already calling it the biggest political shift of the year, speculating on the impact this would have on the upcoming elections.

Clips of the ministers travelling to Vaishnavi’s campaign venue played repeatedly, accompanied by dramatic music. Social media platforms buzzed with trending hashtags, some praising Vaishu’s growing influence, others panicking at the sudden collapse within the ruling side.

Inside the manor, Ayaan watched the breaking news with a calm, calculating gaze. This was only the beginning he thought and his phone buzzed with updates from the PR teams, party strategists and security heads, all confirming that the ministers would formally join during the next day’s campaign event right beside the party head and Vaishnavi Rey herself.

Ayaan switched off the TV with a faint smirk. Everything was moving exactly as planned.
