On seeing Krish on his one knee proposing for marriage, Roshni squealed and hugged Krish screaming a yes. Krish twirled her and slid the ring in her finger. Archana and Vasundra stood next to Myra with no words to console her nor did they react to whatever Krish was doing. Rajan and Madan were raging in anger but stayed numb on seeing Myra gesturing them not to react.
Krish pulled Roshni to the table and cut the cake. None other than Myra and Roshni along with her parents wished him. Krish fed the first piece to Roshni and took a piece to feed Myra but she got it in her hand.
Krish: See, you are my lucky charm Myra. I know this is shocking and surprising to you and I m also very sorry for hiding this to you. Actually Roshni wanted it to be a secret and also I had some reasons so please forgive me Myra. Please don’t be upset with me.
Myra: I m not angry with you Krish. I m so happy for you. You both look made for each other. Finally my idiot friend is committed. Now tell me how long you have been hiding this from me ?
Krish: Two years. I thought it was just a crush but later I realized I m in love with her and infact I used to travel to Bangalore to meet her. Before I could propose her she did and I said yes. So I thought atleast I should be the one proposing this beautiful girl for marriage. I m so lucky to have her, isn’t it Myra ?
Myra: Ofcourse Krish. She is very beautiful and match your class.
Krish hugged Myra and she pat his back with a smile but she couldn’t control the pain she felt in every bone of her body. She just wanted to scram and scream to vent out her agony but she couldn’t do it.
Myra cut the cake and served to their parents and Roshni’s parents. One painful hour passed by and when Krish decided to take Roshni on a long drive, Myra returned to her room followed by her mother and shut the door crashing down on the floor in her mother’s embrace bursting into tears. Vasundra panicked when Myra hollered due to the incessant pain and anguish. She hugged Myra more into her chest and patted her back.
Years of love, every hugs, kisses everything turned out to be a facade. Myra felt nothing but sharp pain all over her body. Was she hallucinating the pain ? Was everything happened a dream? Did he not love her ? Did he not feel anything like the way she felt when they were together from the age of 4 ? Whatever it was today she lost her love. She lost her best friend. She lost her dream. She lost her life or that was what she thought.
A loud knock on the door got Vasundra’s attention and she opened the door leaving Myra to lean on the wall. Rajan entered the room followed by Madan who stumbled and fell on the floor looking at a broken Myra in a dishevelled state and tears all over her face. Madan hit on his forehead to see the girl whom he treated as his own daughter in such a state. Rajan kept a brave facade and sat next to Myra holding a glass of water.
Rajan: Myra, my angel, I won’t stop you from crying but have this water first. Please for my sake.
He placed the rim of the glass on her lips and Myra gulped the water. Rajan watched Myra’s eyes drooping and she fell asleep.
Vasundra: What happen to my daughter ?
Rajan: I gave her pills to sleep. I can’t see her like this. Let her sleep now and we will handle her in the morning. She needs a break and energy to take out this pain from her broken heart.
Madan: I m sorry, I m so sorry. Rajan, believe me, she is my daughter too. I never knew we would see this day. I will.. I will kill him today.
Madan couldn’t take Myra’s broken state and stormed out to his home. He saw Vasundra, her brother and sister in law in the hall.
Archana: I was waiting for you Madan. I didn’t want to confront them without you.
Madan: Did you knew Krish was planning to propose Roshni today ?
Roshni’s father: Yes, Krish invited us for the party but why are you so shocked with his proposal ? Are you not happy with our children getting married ?
Archana: Why didn’t you inform us if you knew already ?
Roshni’s father: Krish wanted this to be surprise and I thought you all knew that they were in love already.
Archana: They were in love already ? What do you mean ?
Roshni’s father: Why are you shocked ? Don’t you know they were in love for the past two years. He used to come to Bangalore twice a month to meet her. He stayed at our home. He wanted my permission to propose her to get married and why will I deny when he is my nephew ?
Madan / Archana: Two years ?
They heard another voice and saw Vasundra at the threshold of their home but she left without a word.
Archana: Two years he has visited to meet Roshni but none of you felt like informing me ? Not once did you feel of talking to me about this ?
Roshni’s mother: Archana, be clear now. Are you not happy ?
Madan: I would have been happy if this was brought to my knowledge instead of us standing like some third person knowing nothing that is happening in our son’s life. Or may be Krish felt you both are much better than his own parents that he decided to keep everything hidden from us.
Krish and Roshni entered the home and Krish was shocked to hear his parents words.
Krish: Appa, what are you saying ? You are the best parents in the whole world.
Madan: Oh I see and is that why you considered your uncle and aunt more important than us to inform them everything instead of us ?
Krish: Appa, you are getting it wrong. That is not the reason. You know how much Myra ..
Archana: Don’t take her name you idiot. I will kill you.
Krish: Maa, why are you raging now ? Please listen to me. Myra had problem with Roshni and hated when we spent time together but I couldn’t stop falling in love with Roshni so I had to hide this from Myra. If I had informed you then you would have revealed it to her immediately so I had to keep it hidden from you too.
Madan: Then why did you reveal today ?
Krish: Please understand. I had to do it some day and felt today would be the best day. I don’t understand what is your problem ?
Archana: Brother, we need time to think of this so it would be better you leave in the morning.
Krish: Maa, I m planning on staying at uncle’s home for a week. I don’t want to leave Roshni alone, not after proposing her for marriage so I will go with them by car.
Archana: They came on their own and I m sure they know the way back too or if you have planned to do everything to your wish with your uncle and aunty alone then find the way out forever from our life.
Roshni and her parents retired to the room and Krish waited for his parents to say something but when they stayed numb he too retried to his room. Archana cried vehemently in Madan’s arm who had no reason or words to console her or himself. He too cried for poor Myra and the couple stayed awake through out the night.
In the morning they saw Roshni and her parents leaving and Krish walked them out. Krish hugged Roshni who had tears in her eyes.
Roshni: I think they are not happy with us being together Krish.
Krish: No Roshni, they are upset that I hid everything from them. They have been like friends to me but still I did not reveal to them about us. They are also upset that I hid this from Myra. You know she is my best friend and I never hid anything from her so they might have thought I hurt Myra by this. I will talk to them and soon we shall fix date for our marriage.
Roshni: I love you Krish and I trust you.
Krish: I love you too. I will come to get you.
Krish pecked her lips and they didn’t notice Myra watching them from her bedroom. She couldn’t hold back the tears and her lips wobbled letting the tears to wet her cheeks.
Krish entered the hall and saw Archana serving tea to his father.
Krish: Maa, you could have atleast talked to uncle and aunt before they left. If you are angry on me for hiding my love from you then you could punish me but why them ?
Madan who was holding the urge to choke Krish threw the cup on the wall which shattered into pieces. Madam scuttled towards Krish and slapped him non stop and Archana had no intentions on stopping him.
Krish: Maa, What have I done to receive such slaps and harsh treatment ? And you are watching appa slap me ?
Archana: Be happy that he just slapped you or if it was me handling you then I would have killed you. I waited for my brother and his family to leave before we had any conversation afterall we didn’t want to humiliate you before your father in law, mother in law and especially your fiance.
Krish: This is too much now. I thought you will be happy that I m ready for marriage. Didn’t you want this. Then why ?
Archana: I wanted you to be married and I dreamt of the day not with Roshni but Myra. I had always wanted Myra in my home as my daughter in law and we all thought you were in love with Myra and not Roshni.
Krish: Love with Myra ? What are you blabbering ? She is my best friend and we grew up together. How could you expect me to be in love with Myra ? I have cared for her, protected her and loved her but as my best friend and nothing else.
His face turned to his side with a force from the slap by Archana.
Archana: Best friend ? Love ? Care ? Protection ?
Madan: Who hug his best friend in every chance he had ? Why did you kiss her like you owned her in your life ?
Krish: I have been doing that from the moment we met.
Madan: So, you should have stopped when you grew up. Didn’t you think you were leading her and what would people think of her when someone takes her for granted to hug her and kiss her whenever he wanted ?
Krish: Myra never had a problem with that so why are you making a mountain out of a mole ?
Archana: Mountain out of a mole ? Did you for once thought what would that poor girl feel in this? Will someone marry her if they knew that you never left a chance to hug and kiss her ? What will happen to her life when people start talking about everything you did in her life ? Most of the people here has watched you dropping her to college, picking up her, taking her to ice cream parlour and what not ? You have did everything a man would do for his woman ?
Madan: We all felt you were in love with Myra. Actions speak louder than words and that is what you did with her. Every action of yours was a proof that you were in love with her. Not today and not yesterday but we all have been waiting for years, I mean 8 years that you will confess your love to Myra but all of a sudden you proposed Roshni for marriage.
Archana: After you proposed her for marriage we get to know that you were in love with for 2 years and even you travelled to Bangalore not for business purpose but to meet her.
Madan: If you had confessed this then we would have not see this day. How will I face Rajan and Vasundra ? They trusted us with their angel and I trusted you for my daughter but you broke us all.
Archana: I m ashamed to call you my son. Atleast Keshav was far better than you and stayed without hurting a girl’s life but you…. Just get out of our eyes.
Krish: I lead Myra ? What do you mean by that ? Is Myra in love with me ? But..
Myra who came hearing the crashing sound heard everything leaning on the wall trying to hold back her tears. Her parents who followed her heard everything and felt disappointed.
Vasundra pulled Myra’s hand to leave the place but Myra shook her head stopping them. She wiped her face and smiled at them before she made her way inside.
Madan and Archana felt ashamed to look at her and bowed their heads. Myra sat next to Madan and wrapped her hand around his shoulder.
Myra: So what is happening here ? Have you fixed the date for marriage ?
Krish: Myra, do you love me ?
Myra was stunned to hear his direct question and a minute later she burst out in laughter. Everyone looked at her amazing act of hiding her emotions. They did nothing but watch her.
Myra: God sake Krish, Why did you even had that thought ? You of all the person ? Please get married and get lost from my life. I pity Roshni she has to endure you forever.
Krish: Amma and Appa are not upset but looks like they will disown me for hiding the fact that I m in love with Roshni since two years. I swear Myra, I didn’t want to upset you so I hid everything from you all but now that we are at the age to get married I had no other choice to confess everything. Are you too upset with me Myra ? I never intended to hurt you. God, I would never do that to you.
Myra: Yes Krish, you will never hurt me and I m not upset with you.
Myra Mv: Cause hurt would be a very simple word to the damage you did to me but its not your fault that I fell in love with you.
Krish: Maa, did you hear her ? Please maa, you and appa have done everything I wished in my life and I so grateful to you for that. For one last time forgive me and accept me and Roshni.
Archana looked at Myra who nodded her head inspite of her broken self. Madan tried to leave but Myra pressed his shoulder keeping him in place and gave a gentle pat to his shoulder. It wasn’t hard for Madan to understand her gesture and nodded his head. Following him Archana hummed and Krish hugged his mother thanking her.
Vasundra and Rajan who were silent all the while cleared their throat and Krish turned his attention to them.
Krish: Vasu aunty, Raj uncle are you upset with me ?
Their gaze met with Myra and she shook her head, pleading with her eyes. Rajan wanted to atleast lash out to vent out his anger but the look on Archana and Madan’s face, their love for Myra and most of all the plead from Myra melted him, afterall he could do anything for his daughter even if he had to forgive the man who had broken his daughter leaving no idea of rebuilding her.
Rajan simple touched Krish’s head and nod his head which made Krish smile.
Krish: Thank you so much.
Vasundra: Myra, lets go. You will be late for your work.
Krish: I will drop her aunty.
Rajan: No Krish, I have some work and need Myra for that so I will drop her.
Myra rose to her feet and was about to join her parents but Krish stopped her. He moved forward to hug her but Vasu hugged Krish and caressed his cheek before she left pulling Myra with her.
