Recap: Rakshat and Samrat were telling Vikram about Sana.

******************************

The afternoon had drifted into the evening unnoticed as the boys chatted away, completely oblivious to the passing time. The clock had already struck 5 PM when Vikram finally excused himself.

“Sana must have woken up,” he said, standing up. He went upstairs and soon returned with her. The group shared a warm tea-time conversation before Rakshat and Sam decided to leave.

“Take care, both of you,” Sana said with a smile. “Keep visiting often.”

“Of course!” Sam grinned. “We’ll come often to disturb you.”

“Shut up, Sam,” Rakshat muttered before turning to Vikram. “We’ll meet soon. Bye.”

“Bye, Rakshat. Bye, Sam,” Vikram responded. “Thanks for this day. I hope we get to meet again soon.”

With that, Rakshat and Sam left the mansion, leaving Vikram and Sana alone.

Sana turned to him, her eyes filled with gratitude. “Vikky, thank you so much. I don’t have words to express how I feel right now. It’s been such a long time since I met Dad, and today… I’m so happy.”

Vikram shook his head. “Didn’t I tell you? No thanks and no sorry between us.”

“Okay,” she chuckled. “But I never expected this day would bring back all my happy memories.”

Vikram cupped her face gently. “My dear wifey, anything to make you happy.”

Sana’s smile softened. “I love you, Vikram.”

“Love you too, Sana.” He kissed her forehead. “Now, what shall we do?”

“How about a walk? I usually go for a walk in the evening.”

“Then let’s go to the garden.”

Hand in hand, they strolled through the lush greenery. Vikram matched her slow pace, enjoying the quiet moment. But soon, Sana’s face contorted in discomfort. She pressed a hand to her chest, wincing slightly.

Vikram noticed immediately. “Sana?” He stopped, concern flashing across his face. “What’s wrong?”

She didn’t respond, struggling against the discomfort. Without wasting a second, Vikram helped her sit down and quickly dialed the doctor. He then carried her back to their room, his heart pounding in fear.

Minutes later, the doctor arrived and checked on her. Vikram paced anxiously outside until the doctor finally emerged.

“Doctor, how is my wife? How is our baby? Please tell me she’s fine!”

The doctor chuckled. “Relax, Vikram. It’s nothing serious.”

Vikram scowled. “Nothing serious? My wife was in pain, and you want me to chill?”

“It’s just gastric discomfort,” the doctor explained. “It’s common during pregnancy. Normally, elders at home handle such things easily by ensuring the right diet. You need to make sure she eats food that digests well to avoid this.”

Vikram sighed in relief. “Oh… How is she now?”

“I’ve given her an injection. She’ll be perfectly fine soon. But she may need an elder’s presence to care for her. If that’s not possible, I suggest hiring a caretaker or a nurse. Just my opinion.”

“Thanks, doctor. I’ll take care of it.”

Vikram rushed into the room and pulled Sana into a tight hug, caressing her back.

“How do you feel now, sunshine?”

“I’m fine, Vikky. Nothing to worry about.”

“I was scared,” he admitted, his voice thick with emotion. “I felt like my heart would stop.”

She frowned. “Am I troubling you too much, Vikram?”

“Stop it, Sana! Don’t even think like that. I already lost so many months. At least let me take care of you now. I didn’t know much about pregnancy, but if Amma were here, she would have cared for you like her own daughter, her princess.”

Sana’s voice broke. “What can I do? I’m so unlucky… I lost both my mothers.”

Vikram held her tighter. “Don’t worry. We’re not alone in this. I’ll call my mom. She’ll be here to support us.”

She blinked in confusion. “Mom? Whom are you referring to?”

“Amudha Mom,” Vikram said with a small smile. “She’s my best friend Pugazh’s mother. She always treated me like her own son. When everyone else cared only about my money, Pugazh was the only one who stood by me as a true friend. He never asked for anything, never took anything from me. If I call him now, he’ll be here in an instant.”

Sana’s face lit up. “Wow! I can’t wait to meet them.”

Vikram stepped out and dialed Pugazh’s number.

“Hey, dude!” Pugazh answered. “Finally remembered you have a friend?”

Vikram chuckled. “I’m fine, man. How are you? How’s our mom? How’s Pranitha?”

“We’re all good! How’s your wife?”

“That’s why I called…” Vikram hesitated before narrating everything that had happened. Pugazh was silent for a moment, then burst out in rage.

“Are you even human, Vikram? How could you do that to her? And why didn’t you call me when you were going through so much? How dare you trouble my sister?!”

“Sister? Who are you talking about?”

“Sana! The moment you spoke about her, I adopted her as my sister. Now listen carefully—she has a brother now. If you ever trouble her again, you’ll have to face me first!”

Vikram sighed. “I’m trying to make things right, Pugazh. I want to create new memories with her. Please understand.”

“Fine. Now, tell me how she’s doing.”

“That’s why I called. There’s no elder at home to take care of her—”

“Cut the call now,” Pugazh interrupted.

“What? What did I do now?”

“Idiot! Did you forget we have our mother?”

Vikram laughed. “Shut up, dumbhead! I didn’t forget. I called you so you can bring Mom with you. I expect you here as soon as possible.”

“Watch out, bro! I’ll be there at rocket speed!”

Grinning widely, Vikram returned to the room. Sana raised an eyebrow. “You seem really happy. What happened?”

“Pugazh is coming over with Mom. His wife will accompany them too.”

Sana beamed. “Wow! I already feel positive vibes just hearing about them.”

Vikram sat beside her, caressing her tummy before pressing a gentle kiss there.

“All the kisses are only for the baby?” Sana teased. “What about me?”

Vikram smirked. “Anything and everything for you, my dear wifey. I have a lot to give you… but we need to wait until our baby is born. Then, I’ll make sure you won’t even be able to leave the bed.”

Sana turned crimson, biting her cheeks to hide her blush.

“Don’t try so hard,” Vikram teased. “I can see you blushing.”

“God, Vikky, please stop it!”

“You look gorgeous when you blush. I’ll wait a few more months. Is that okay?”

Sana nodded shyly.

“Words, baby. I want words.”

She whispered, “Yes, we shall wait.”

“I love you, Sana.”

“Love you too, Vikky.”

As Vikram massaged her feet, Sana admired him, her prince charming.

“Madam, how long will you keep staring at me?” Vikram teased.

She smirked. “What’s wrong with admiring my husband? It’s my right!”

Vikram grinned. “Then go ahead. After our baby is born, you’ll see how much I admire you.”

They continued their playful banter, leaving behind their bitter past to embrace a beautiful new beginning together.
