Recap: Doctor said Sana would have her labor anytime in a week.

Vikram was restless. Though he tried his best to mask his anxiety, his mind kept imagining the pain Sana would have to endure during childbirth. But he never showed his worry, fearing it might affect her. On the other hand, Sana remained calm even as the due date approached. Her composure surprised him.
“Sana baby, aren’t you scared of the delivery?” Vikram asked, watching her with concern.
She smiled. “Why should I be? After all, I can’t wait to hold our little bundle of joy in my arms. Yes, it will hurt, but just imagine the moment our baby enters our world of love… I can’t even put it into words. By the way, are you scared, Vikky?”
Vikram cleared his throat. “No… of course not. Why would I be?”
Sana chuckled. “Of course, you aren’t. I can see it in your eyes.”
“Fine,” he admitted, shaking his head. “Now tell me, do you want me to accompany you in the labor room?”
Sana shook her head. “A big no.”
“Why?”
“Vikky, I know you. When it comes to me, you can’t console or convince yourself when I’m in pain. It’s better you stay out.”
“No, sunshine,” Vikram protested. “I’ll behave. I’ll try to stay calm.”
“Let’s decide at that moment,” she said, squeezing his hand. “Don’t worry now.”
The morning was pleasant, but Sana felt unusually lazy and uncomfortable. She didn’t want to move. Vikram noticed her unease and carried her to the washroom, helping her settle in a warm bath. She felt a little better. After refreshing, he carried her to the living room for breakfast.
Amudha, Vikram’s mother, served Sana food and immediately noticed a change in her expression.
“Vikram, we should take Sana to the hospital. Let’s not wait for her to be in pain. It’s better to stay there a day in advance.”
“Even I thought of that, Mom,” Vikram agreed. “I’ll inform the doctor.”
Amudha turned to Sana. “Do you feel any difference?”
“I don’t feel any pain, but I do feel… different,” Sana admitted.
Amudha nodded. “I think she will go into labor today or tomorrow.”
Vikram immediately dialed the doctor. Just as he was about to call, his phone rang. It was the chief doctor from the hospital.
“Yes, doctor, I was about to call you,” Vikram said, answering quickly.
“Sir, the gynecologist suggests bringing Sana in today since she’s due in two days.”
“I was thinking the same. Okay, get things ready. We’ll be there in two hours.”
“Sure, sir.”
Vikram turned to his mother. “The doctor also wants Sana admitted today. Let’s get ready.”
Amudha nodded. “I’ll prepare food before we leave. Pugazh, call Sana’s father and inform him.”
Pugazh relayed the message, while Vikram and Sana spent a quiet moment in their room. He pulled her into a hug.
“Hey wifey, don’t worry. I’m going to be by your side the whole time, okay?”
“Hmm… okay,” Sana murmured.
“We’re going to return home with our princess,” he whispered.
She smiled. “Hmm, yes, hubby.”
Vikram frowned. “Why are you so quiet? Is something bothering you?”
Sana looked into his eyes. “Kiss me, Vikky.”
He cupped her face and pressed a strong, lingering kiss to her forehead. He kissed her eyes, cheeks, and then pecked her lips, but she pulled him closer by his collar, deepening the kiss. When they finally pulled apart, both were breathless.
“We should leave now,” she whispered.
“I love you, sunshine.”
“Love you too, hubby.”
Before leaving, Amudha took them to the pooja room for a prayer. She gave them holy ashes, blessing them before they left. They traveled in separate cars to the hospital, where the chief doctor and PRO guided them to the VIP suite. Sana was admitted, and all VIP rooms were reserved for Vikram’s family.
After conducting check-ups, the doctor informed Vikram, “She should have gone into labor by now. We’ll wait until the end of the day. If not, we’ll induce the pain.”
“There won’t be any risks with the injection, right?” Vikram asked anxiously.
“Don’t worry, sir. It’s a common procedure.”
After the doctor left, Pugazh sighed. “Vikram, you own this hospital, and the doctors here are the best. Why are you so nervous?”
“I know,” Vikram admitted. “But I’m still scared for her.”
“I get it, man. But don’t stress her out. I’ll wait outside with Pranitha.”
“No,” Pranitha protested. “I want to stay with Sana. You wait outside, Pugazh.”
Amudha turned to Sana. “Keep walking for a while. It will help the labor progress.”
Vikram frowned. “Mom, are you serious? You want her to walk now?”
“If you want the delivery to progress quickly, hold her hand and help her walk around the room.”
Vikram held Sana’s hand, guiding her in slow, careful steps. The LED screen displayed her favorite cartoons and songs to distract her.
By 4 PM, Sana tensed. “Mom, I feel pain in my lower back.”
The nurse called the doctor, who examined her. “The pain has just started, but the cervix isn’t fully dilated yet. We need to wait.”
With each passing hour, Sana’s pain intensified. She screamed in agony, clutching Vikram’s hand. His heart ached seeing her in distress.
“Doctor, how long will she have to endure this?” he demanded.
“Sir, she’s only at four centimeters. She needs to reach ten. It will take time.”
“This is ridiculous!”
“Dude, shut up and let the doctor do her job,” Pugazh scolded.
Three hours later, Sana’s screams grew louder. Vikram wiped his tears as he held her hands tightly. Finally, the doctor announced, “She’s in the final phase. We’re taking her to the labor ward.”
Vikram insisted on staying with her. The doctor hesitated. “Sir, you might not be able to handle it.”
“I’ll be fine.”
The nurse helped him into scrubs before he entered the labor room. Sana screamed in agony. Vikram broke inside but composed himself, whispering sweet reassurances in her ear.
“Sana, take a deep breath and push,” the doctor instructed.
Vikram kissed her forehead, holding her hand. “You’re almost there, sunshine. Just a little more.”
With one final push, Sana let out a scream and then, the room filled with the loud cry of their newborn.
Vikram’s eyes filled with tears. “I love you, Sana.”
“Congratulations, it’s a girl!” the doctor announced, placing the baby on Sana’s chest before she fainted from exhaustion.
Vikram held his daughter, his tears falling onto her tiny forehead. The baby was taken for cleaning, and Vikram stepped outside.
“Mom, Dad, we have a princess!” he announced, hugging his family.
Later, back in their suite, Vikram placed the baby in Sana’s arms. She kissed her daughter’s forehead, tears streaming down her face.
Vikram kissed Sana’s knuckles. “I’m so sorry, Sana.”
She looked at him. “Hey, what happened, Vikky? Why are you crying?”
“I couldn’t do anything when you were in pain.”
Sana smiled. “Now look at our princess. Do you still feel the pain was unbearable? Every bit of it was worth it.”
Vikram nodded, his heart full. “I love you, Sana.”
“Love you too. And congratulations, Daddy.”
“Congratulations to you too, Mommy.”
They chuckled, watching their little angel sleep—their world, their love, their everything.
