Recap: Vikram speaks to Sana to get rid of her insecurity
***************************
Sana felt a wave of calm settle in her chest after hearing Vikram’s soothing words. She knew she had hurt him with her outburst, but emotions had overpowered her, and the words had slipped out before she could stop them. Thankfully, Vikram understood her turmoil and spoke with the same tenderness that had always brought her peace.
“I troubled you a lot… I’m sorry,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
“No sorry…” Vikram said softly, brushing her hair back. “Just relax. I’m always here for you. Don’t let your mind wander too much.”
“Hmm…” she murmured.
“Love you, wifey.”
“Love you too…”
He smiled gently. “How do you feel now? Shall we bring Sara back to the room? She must be sleepy.”
“I’ll go bring her,” she offered.
“No, you wait. Let me go.”
Vikram walked out and returned a few minutes later with their baby girl cuddled in his arms. He placed her gently on the bed, and soon the family drifted off to sleep after a day filled with emotional highs and lows.
Days passed. Vikram was caught up with work, but never too busy for Sana and Sara. He made it a point to care for them, to be present. Sara had started sitting on her own now, and her little babbles filled their home with joy.
Weekends were reserved for their beach house. Just the three of them. No maids, no distractions—only love.
They spent their time playing with Sara, watching her crawl while Vikram followed behind, mimicking her tiny movements. Sara adored playing with her dad and had a newfound habit of planting open-mouthed kisses on both her parents. Vikram lived for those wet kisses, feeling whole when his baby girl slept on his chest and Sana nestled into his embrace.
One evening, Sana rubbed her stomach and groaned.
“Vikky, I’m so hungry.”
“Tell me what you want, and I’ll cook for you,” Vikram said, placing his phone aside.
“Anything… or something special filled with your love,” she winked at him.
He laughed. “Good to see my wife can flirt a little now.”
“Only a little? Mr. Husband, wait until Sara falls asleep, and I’ll show you my romance.”
“Is that so? Okay, let’s see.”
Later, once Sara was asleep, Sana returned to the kitchen to find Vikram busy preparing dinner. She sat on the kitchen counter, admiring him with a soft smile.
“You’re staring,” he said, flipping the mushroom biryani in the pan.
“Hmm, yes. Any problem?”
“No problem, but food might be served late. Is that okay?”
“Why?”
“Because if you keep staring at me, I’ll get distracted. Then I’ll put the cooking on simmer… walk to you… take your hands and put them around my neck…”
He did exactly what he said, his hands encircling her waist as he pulled her close and pressed a playful kiss to her lips. It was soft and teasing, their lips brushing and smiling into each kiss. Sana giggled and pushed him away.
“Enough, I’m hungry,” Sana whined, folding her arms. “First, get me something to eat.”
Vikram chuckled without turning around. “Fine, almost done…”
The kitchen filled with a mouth-watering aroma, and her stomach growled in protest. She leaned closer, sniffing the air dramatically.
“What have you cooked? It smells heavenly… so tempting.”
He flashed her a proud smile. “Mushroom biryani and strawberry smoothie—cooked with love, served with passion.”
Sana raised an eyebrow, impressed. “Wow. I’m actually impressed.”
Vikram turned to face her, eyes twinkling with mischief. “Now tell me, what will you give me in return?”
She bit back a grin. “I don’t even know the ‘C’ in cooking. What can I possibly offer?”
“You don’t need to know the ‘C’ in cooking,” he said, stepping closer, his voice low and playful. “But I’d be really happy if you knew the ‘R’ in romance.” He ended the sentence with a flirtatious wink.
Sana blushed, playfully pushing him away. “You’re impossible.”
“If you keep blushing like that, you’ll get food only after hours. Is that okay?”
“God! I’m leaving. I want to fill my tummy now!” She ran off to the dining table and began scrolling through her phone.
Vikram brought her plate over and just as she reached for it, he pulled her onto his lap.
“What?” she blinked.
“Now you can eat.” He began feeding her gently.
“Yes, food with your love,” she whispered, kissing his cheek.
“Is it? And how much love do you see in it?”
She pecked his lips and smiled. “I see all the love in the world.”
They finished eating together. Vikram returned with the smoothie and her eyes sparkled in surprise.
He held it in one hand and used the other to pull her to the couch. She sat between his legs, leaning back on his chest as they shared the smoothie in peaceful silence.
“Now that food is over… what next?” Vikram asked, his voice playful as he leaned back, watching her.
Sana grinned. “Let’s watch a movie.”
He tilted his head. “What genre?”
She shrugged, already knowing her choice. “Romance?”
Vikram smirked. “Of course. But before that, you have a task.”
Sana narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “What task?”
“Go to our room. I’ve kept a dress for you. Change into it. I’ll set up the movie.”
Her suspicion deepened. “What dress?”
“Go see, baby,” he said, sending her off with a teasing smile.
Sana walked into the bedroom, and the moment her eyes landed on the outfit laid neatly on the bed, she gasped. A pair of tiny shorts and a sleeveless crop top—bold, snug, and nothing like what she usually wore.
She slapped a hand over her mouth in disbelief before storming back to Vikram, hands on her hips, staring at him like he’d lost his mind.
Vikram looked up at her innocent act with a chuckle. “What happened, baby?”
She raised an eyebrow, voice indignant. “What is this dress even? It’s too short!”
He grinned shamelessly. “So what? It’s just me here. No difference. Just try it. You’ll look hot…”
“Are you kidding? I’ve never tried anything like this in my life!” she protested, flustered.
He crossed his arms, clearly amused. “I remember someone promised to show me her romance once Sara was asleep. Where is she now?”
Sana rolled her eyes. “So you want me to wear this? I think this would fit Sara better than me!”
“Won’t you wear it for me?” he asked, voice dropping to a husky, deep tone that sent a shiver down her spine.
“Don’t use your base voice…” she whispered, already affected. “You know that makes me weak.”
Vikram held up his hands with a smirk. “Okay, I’m not talking. Now go change. I’m waiting…”
Sana sighed and walked back, eventually changing into the outfit. She came back, tugging the hem of the top and looking flustered.
Vikram’s eyes followed her every move as she stood before him.
“Vikky, please don’t look at me like that.”
“Why?”
“I feel shy…”
He pulled her to his lap, wrapping his arms around her waist and breathing in her scent.
“You look gorgeous. Too hot for me to keep control…”
Sana covered her face in embarrassment.
His fingers danced on her bare waist, then slowly moved to her thigh, sending trembles down her spine.
“Vikky…”
“Hmm?”
“Shall we watch the movie?”
“Woman… You know what I’m going through right now, and you’re thinking about a movie?”
“I do… That’s why I’m asking.”
Without warning, he pushed her onto the couch and hovered over her, trailing kisses down her neck. His lips sought every inch of her face, lingering on her cheeks before finally capturing her lips in a fiery kiss. As their bodies responded to the growing heat, their clothes fell away, and love consumed the room, couch, dining table, and every breath in between.
Each touch rebirthed her. Each moment in her made him feel alive. Their gasps and moans filled the house until hours later, they lay entangled, breathless and drenched in sweat.
Vikram wrapped her in a soft duvet and carried her to the washroom, where he gave her a warm bath, gentle and caring.
Later, they retired to their bedroom. With her head resting on his chest and his fingers caressing her arm, Sana drifted off to sleep, a peaceful smile on her lips.
Vikram kissed her forehead and whispered, “You’re back, my Sana… and so is my happiness.”
