One week later, Ayaan and Zara were over the moon when the doctor finally informed them that their daughter was perfectly fine and gently placed the baby into Zara’s arms. Holding their son, Ayaan sat beside Zara, admiring their little girl as she blinked her eyes adorably at her parents. He immediately instructed Sameer to make arrangements for their discharge and informed his parents that they would be arriving at the manor with the babies.
Zara smiled at his excitement and leaned her head on his shoulder.
“Look at her nose… just imagine her scrunching it and throwing tantrums when she grows up. I would love to tease her just to watch that cuteness,” Ayaan said, touching his daughter’s tiny nose.
“Our lives are going to be completely busy now. Our schedules will be packed and both of them will want attention at the same time,” Zara said and Ayaan chuckled, pressing a kiss to her crown.
By evening, additional security guards arrived at the hospital and the paparazzi swarmed the entrance, eager to catch a glimpse of the couple leaving with the babies. Ishaan and Pari arrived to help and they each carried a baby while Ayaan held Zara’s hand and wrapped an arm around her shoulder as she walked slowly to the elevator. They were taken directly to the secured parking area and settled into the car without drawing any unwanted attention. As the cars slowly rolled out, the media flashed lights relentlessly.
The cars lined up at the manor and Zara smiled warmly when she saw the entire place dazzling with colorful lights to welcome her and the babies. The whole family stood on the porch and Reyansh personally opened the car door for her. Before Zara could step out, he held her hand and supported her as she carefully got down, one hand instinctively holding her abdomen.
Ishaan and Pari gently handed the babies over to Ayaan and Zara, while Vaishu stood with an aarthi plate, ready to welcome them inside. The entire red carpet leading into the manor was covered with flowers, creating a beautiful path for the couple to walk on.
Ayaan and Zara stepped forward slowly, each carrying a baby and Zara gasped softly the moment she saw the decorations inside. Lights, lamps and flowers filled the entire living area, making it look breathtakingly magnificent.
Vaishu took the baby girl from Zara and kissed her forehead. “Welcome home, princess,” she whispered lovingly.
Then she looked at the baby boy in Ayaan’s arms and kissed his forehead too. “Welcome home, prince,” she added and Ayaan smiled, settling beside his wife.
“How do you feel?” he asked Zara, carefully scanning her face for any sign of discomfort.
” I finally feel at home,” Zara replied and her words made everyone smile.
Pari called the home manager, who arrived with a few staff members.
“Ayaan, we’ve recruited four nannies to take care of the babies and two caretakers to look after Zara. We have also shifted the doctor’s room to your wing. He’ll be staying in a guest room nearby in case you need him at any time. Everything has been prepared exactly the way you wanted,” she said.
Ayaan looked at the staff with authority. “I will take care of my wife and my babies. You will work only when instructed. I won’t compromise on my family’s safety, so stay attentive,” he said firmly and the staff nodded immediately.
Mithun chuckled and Reyansh mirrored his reaction with a smile.
Ayaan held Zara’s hand as they entered the elevator, with Vaishu and Reyansh following behind carrying their grandchildren. He opened the door to their room, which had now been transformed completely. Two beautiful cribs stood beside their bed, warm lights glowed softly across the room, and toys were neatly arranged everywhere. A mini wardrobe filled with everything the babies could possibly need was placed thoughtfully in the corner.
Vaishu and Reyansh gently laid the babies in their cribs while Ayaan helped Zara sit comfortably on the bed, leaning against the headboard.
“Ayaan, I know you want to take care of your wife and babies on your own but please call us anytime. We would be more than happy to take care of our grandchildren and Zara. From now on, I will personally look after her diet.” Vaishu said softly, sitting beside Zara holding her hand and brushed Zara’s hair lovingly.
“You need plenty of rest, Zara. Rest as much as you can when the babies sleep and don’t hesitate to tell us even if you feel the slightest discomfort. You don’t have to struggle with your postpartum alone. You have us… your family… and we all love you,” Vaishu said, kissing Zara’s forehead.
“Ayaan, talk to the doctor about postpartum and learn everything you need to take care of Zara. If I see even a single tear from my daughter’s eyes, I’ll throw you out,” Reyansh warned, pointing a finger at him.
Ayaan rolled his eyes but smiled, touched by the love and concern they all held for Zara.
Once Vaishu and Reyansh left the room, Ayaan sat beside Zara and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
“Now that we are home, tell me honestly, how do you feel?” he asked gently.
Zara leaned into him with a small smile. “I’m happy… but I won’t lie, I feel down that I’m not normal like I used to be. But it’s okay. Just a few more days, like the doctor said and I’ll handle everything.”
Ayaan cupped her face and kissed her forehead. “You have me, sweetheart. I’ll take care of you and our babies. Don’t worry about anything… just rest and get better soon,” he whispered.
Just then, a soft cry came from the crib. Ayaan instantly got up, lifted their son carefully and carried him to Zara.
“He must be hungry. Feed him before our princess wakes up for her turn,” he said and watched Zara as she began feeding their son.
“What a beautiful sight,” Ayaan murmured.
Zara’s eyes flew wide hearing his words. “Ayaan, you idiot ” she hissed, trying to cover herself, but Ayaan gently stopped her and pinched her cheeks.
“Zara, I meant it genuinely. Seeing my wife feed my son… it warms my heart. I wasn’t teasing, but yes..I would say more and do a lot more in the future. For now, my sweetheart needs to recover and that’s all I’m thinking about ” he said with a smile and gave her a playful wink.
Zara shook her head with a smile. Ayaan chuckled when he heard their daughter cry and immediately moved to her side. He lifted her gently into his arms and kissed her tiny forehead.
“Is this what they call twins’ instinct? Now I think I should worry more about my wife… you two need to take turns or at least give her a break.” he murmured with a smile.
He rocked the baby softly. “Come on, princess. Let’s get your nappy changed,” he said, already beginning the task with practiced ease.
Once Zara finished feeding the boy, Ayaan handed their daughter to her and lifted their son against his chest, patting his back to help him burp.
“I don’t feel like a billionaire or the Ex- CEO of the Rey Empire at all. Nothing else stays in my mind. I just feel like I’m your husband and the father of our babies. Is this normal? Do all men feel like this?” Ayaan asked suddenly.
Zara looked at him with a small frown. “How would I know?” she asked, genuinely confused.
Ayaan gave her a sheepish grin. “Right… of course you wouldn’t. I should ask Dad or Mithun uncle. I have so much to learn to take care of you and our babies.”
Just then, their son let out a soft burp.
“Alright, little man. Done, now it’s either you talk to me or you sleep.” Ayaan said proudly and laid the boy on the bed, changed his nappy and stretched out beside him with his elbows propped up.
“So… what shall we talk about, little Ayaan? What would you like to become when you grow up? Whatever you choose, do anything, become anything… but never hurt the woman who will love you. That is the greatest lesson your dad learned in life.” he asked, gently tapping the baby’s nose.
He paused and turned to Zara, looking genuinely confused. “Zara, what will our son and daughter call me?”
“Well, what do you want to be called? Appa? Papa? Or Daddy?” Zara asked with a smile.
“Ishaan bro and Ishi sister always called Dad as appa. Advika calls him papa. And Dad always wanted me to call him appa too… but I only ever called him dad,” Ayaan said with a soft smile. “Dad used to call Ishaan bro and Ishi sister as muffins and Advika and me as cupcakes. I used to fight with him to stop calling me cupcake and he still didn’t stop even when we grew up. One day he said he would stop calling me cupcake only if I called him appa but I never gave up. And now… with our children, I want to feel everything. Let them call me whatever they want. Appa… papa when I’m being strict… and dad when we’re having fun and playing games.” he said and Zara smiled warmly, her heart melting at his words.
Vaishu entered the room carrying dinner for Zara, followed by a maid bringing Ayaan’s meal.
“Special dinner for my daughter,” Vaishu said warmly and sat beside Zara. She fed her gently with her own hands, her affection evident in every gesture. Ayaan quietly ate his dinner, his eyes occasionally drifting to his mother and wife, feeling grateful for the love surrounding his family.
Later that night, Ayaan and Zara slept with their babies beside them and woke up together whenever the little ones cried. Ayaan handled everything with patience and tenderness.
The next morning, Ayaan carried Zara to the bathroom to help her bathe. His heart clenched every time he saw the long incision mark across her lower abdomen. It felt like someone had stabbed his soul. His respect and love for her multiplied beyond measure. Tears filled his eyes as he rose to his feet and kissed her forehead.
“I love you,” he whispered in a voice trembling and continued bathing and dressing her with utmost care.
After getting her settled, he called the nannies, caretakers and the doctor to the nursery beside their master bedroom. Carrying both babies in his arms, he stepped inside in the nursery.
“The nannies will bathe my son and daughter today. Doctor, I want you to supervise and ensure they do everything perfectly, only for today. If they’re good at their work, I’ll let them handle it on their own from tomorrow.” Ayaan instructed, his tone was calm yet firm.
Everyone nodded obediently. He instructed the caretakers to stay with Zara until he returned.
Vaishu entered the nursery and stood beside her son. Together, they watched as the nannies undressed the babies and gently massaged them with warm oil. When the water was ready, Ayaan checked its temperature himself, dipping his fingers into the tub.
“Be careful… slowly… hold her head… that’s it,” he muttered nervously, his heart lodged in his throat. Vaishu hid a smile watching her son fuss like an overprotective father.
Once the babies were bathed, the doctor stepped out after confirming everything was done perfectly. Ayaan remained there, silently observing until the nannies dressed the babies in soft, tiny clothes.
“You did well,” Ayaan said with appreciation and then, with overwhelming pride and love, he lifted both his son and daughter into his arms and carried them back to Zara.
“Did they cry?” Zara asked the moment Ayaan walked in.
Ayaan shook his head immediately. “I wouldn’t let them cry. Now feed them, sweetheart. I’m sure they’ll sleep for a long while after this and you can get the rest you need.”
He gently laid the babies on the bed beside her. Zara began feeding them and Ayaan sat next to her with a notepad and a pen in hand.
“Sweetheart, we need to decide their names. Tell me all the names you have in mind and we shall choose together.” he said, glancing at her with excitement.
Zara thought for a moment, biting her lip adorably as she recalled the names she liked. She listed one after another and Ayaan carefully wrote each one down, adding a few names of his own as well.
Their little family moment felt tender, warm and beautifully complete.
