A week later:
Myra thought about everything happened in her life and especially that her parents had to suffer because of her. Considering everything she made a decision and called up her parents to discuss about it.
Rajan: Myra, we will respect whatever decision you have made so don’t hesitate.
Myra: Appa, whatever decision I made in the past has only made us all suffer. I trust you but I wanted to talk to the guy before making up my decision. This is not only my life for me to make a decision based on whatever he spoke to you.
Rajan: Don’t you worry about that. I will call them for dinner and you can talk with him. His name is Prashanth.
Myra hummed and Rajan dialled his friend to convey the information and invite his family for a friendly dinner meet. Vasundra informed Archana and Madan about Myra’s request and they felt she was right. They all started preparing to welcome the guest and Vasundra chose a beautiful green silk saree for Myra to wear in the evening.
Skip to evening:
Myra got ready in the saree with no make up. Archana and Vasundra placed the dinner ready on the table while Rajan and Madan waited by the gate to receive the guest. A car stopped and Rajan welcomed the family of 3 with a smile.
They all entered inside home and Rajan introduced everyone to each other.
Rajan: Prashanth, I hope you don’t mind the sudden request to meet for dinner ?
Prashanth: Absolutely not uncle. Good, I was free from any recording today or I would have informed you to chose some other day so don’t mind. I m happy to be here to meet you all and Myra.
Rajan: Myra, take Prashanth to the terrace and we will wait for you both. Take your time and talk to each other.
Myra nodded her head and gestured Prashanth to follow her. They reached the terrace and got seated on the single couches opposite to each other. Vasundra followed them and placed some snacks and coffee and left from there.
Prashanth: Hi Myra, you don’t have to feel uncomfortable. We can talk and you can ask me anything you wanted me to clarify.
Myra: Thanks, Appa said you knew about my family and me.
Prashanth: Yes, our fathers are friends for years in office so they share everything. I have always been fascinated hearing about you, your friendship, your love and the way you moved on in your life and what you are today.
Myra: What I m today because of my family and friends Naina and Ketchup.
Prashanth: Ketchup ?
Myra: Oh, he is Keshav but I call him Ketchup, habit from childhood. He helped me a lot and he is the main reason what I am today. Back to discussion, if you knew that I had loved someone else then why do you want to marry me ?
Prashanth: You have the answer in your question Myra. Your love was in past and I wanted you to be my present and future.
Myra: I have moved on in all these months but I m not ready for a relationship now.
Prashanth: Let me be frank Myra. I believe that couples has to be friends first before they are husband and wife. We can take our own time and be friends, try to understand each other, we shall respect each other’s passion, career. I hope we will fall in love in future, I believe that is how arranged marriage works.
Myra: What if we don’t fall in love ? I don’t think I will be able to do that again.
Prashanth: We travel in the same boat Myra. I had my heart break during my college and I want someone who will understand and give the same space for me to move on with my partner.
Myra: What made you think we would be compatible ?
Prashanth: Our career, passion are alike. We have heart break as common, our fathers are friends, I respect and love my parents like you do. I think we will get along well. I will give you the space you wanted because I wanted the same. We will have all our life to progress in our relationship and until then we can be friends, support each other’s career.
Myra: If we are so clear in all these then we should also be clear that we should part our ways when we reach a point when we couldn’t continue further.
Prashanth: We will also not fight any feelings that we grow for each other. No physical business until we are strong to continue our lives. I believe very much in that.
Myra nodded to his words.
Prashanth: I have been following you on social media so you can check my profile to know about my life in the past. I haven’t changed my number or social media account which may prove I don’t have anything to hide from you.
Myra: If it is a yes from my side, I will not be ready for any dates, meetings, shopping and chatting like other typical couple. May be after marriage we can try that. Will that be ok for you ?
Prashanth: No problem, anyways I will be busy with recordings so we can find time once we are married and live under one roof.
Myra: Do you want to know my answer now or would you wait ?
Prashanth: As you wish but I hope you will send me back serving some food. I couldn’t have lunch in all the excitement to meet you.
Myra chuckled and lead him back to home. None questioned them and Rajan called Archana and Vasundra to serve dinner. They spoke anything other than the proposal and laughed at the joke Prashanth’s father cracked about his college life.
Myra: I want to say something to you all.
They all stopped and looked at her. Myra looked at her mother and Archana and held their hands.
Myra: I m ready for this marriage.
Rajan removed his glasses and hugged Myra and then hugged Prashanth his father followed by Madan.
Rajan: I m so happy today. Prashanth, what about you ?
Prashanth: I was waiting for her to say yes and now you can fix the date.
Prashanth’s father: Will it be a ok if we fix the wedding next month ?
Rajan looked at Myra and Vasundra for answer. Vasundra nodded her head and Myra too gave her approval. Archana got sweets and fed to Myra and Prashanth.
Rajan: I will take a month leave to work on my daughter’s wedding. We have lot of work to do.
Prashanth’s mother: On the day of wedding they can exchange rings before tying the knot. We shall fix the date tomorrow and decided a day for shopping and selecting the cards.
Rajan: We want everything to be Myra and Prashanth’s choice so let them choose and we can simply accompany them.
Prashanth’s mother: Our son has agreed to get married so everything is ok for us.
They all had dinner and Prashanth’s family left not before Myra and Prashanth exchanged their numbers just for a formality.
Rajan and Vasundra hugged Myra with whole of tears n their eyes and Madan and Archana couldn’t control their own.
Rajan: Myra, we are so happy for you. Finally god has opened the door of happiness for you.
Vasundra: Myra, did you talk to him everything you wanted to clarify ? Did you say yes whole heartedly ?
Myra just hummed as a fear was still creeping in her heart but she couldn’t see her parents suffer anymore because of her, she doesn’t want to be the talk in Archana’s home anymore, she doesn’t wanted to see Roshni taunting her because of insecurities, she doesn’t want to hear anything about Roshni and Krish and if this marriage will be a escape and open the gateway from all the miseries then she wanted to get through it but the only things that concerned her was the unknown fear.
Myra Mv: I wish I made a correct decision for all of us. Please god, help me in this.
The next day Rajan and Vasundra met an astrologer with Prashanth’s parents and fixed a date for wedding exactly 32 days later. That evening they called Myra and Prashanth to select a wedding card and finalized it for printing.
They returned home and informed Archana and Madan about finalizing the cards. Archana prayed god nothing but Myra’s happiness. She made some sweets to share the news to everyone but rushed to the hall hearing Krish screaming.
Archana: Krish, what is with both of you ?
Madan: We were quiet all these days because we thought you will fix whatever is happening between you both. I don’t see a day without you both fighting. After all what is your problem ?
Roshni: We don’t have any problem uncle. Its just the usual couple fights.
Madan: Couple fights ? Have you both ever saw me and Archana fighting ? Krish have you ever seen me or your mother fighting over anything ? Have you ever seen Rajan and Vasundra fighting over anything ?
Roshni: Why do we bring them in everything we do ? Let us talk about our family only.
Krish: This is her problem. I talk about Myra, uncle and aunty is a problem, if I don’t talk about them again it is a problem. Her whole mind revolves around Myra and family that she forgot we have a life to live. She has nothing to talk other than taunting and cursing Myra. I m done with her torture all these months.
Archana: What do you mean by done and why does Myra or her parents come into your fight ? you both fell in love and it was your decision to get engaged and again you both mutually decided to get married a year later. They had nothing to say or do in both your life. They were not even present in your engagement.
Roshni: I don’t think he love me anymore. His thoughts are not around me anymore.
Madan: Have some conscience Roshni. I m seeing what is happening. Krish does everything you ask him. He has taken you on vacation, every weekend he take you out for dinner dates, movie dates, shopping. He doesn’t even find time for his own family now and you are blaming him ?
Archana: She has insecurities so try to fix that Krish.
Madan: You both are not child anymore. Have some sense and talk out between you two. Don’t hurry into a decision like always. Take time and try fix things. If not then we shall discuss later in Roshni’s parents presence. End of the day we want both of you to be happy in your life and will stand by any decision.
Archana: If required fix an appointment with a counsellor if that will help fix your relationship or if living away from all of us will help you build a better life then you have our words that you can find a place to live on your own.
Krish: I don’t want to live away from you all.
Archana: This is not about you alone anymore. You both are engaged and living under the same roof for almost 10 months now. We need to find a solution to the problem. Its not like we will not meet each other if you decide to live separately so think wise. This is about your life.
Madan: First of all stop shouting at each other’s face. Go out to a calm place and have a calm conversation to understand what you want from each other. Reminisces the moments that kept you head over heels for each other and now see what is that you are missing.
Roshni returned to her room and pulled her hair in frustration standing before the mirror.
Roshni: How dare you Krish ? I know your thoughts are all over that Myra and trust me I will never let her win me. I had enough of watching you both sticking together for years and I made all moves to get you away from her. Why does she have to get everything she wanted in life ? I wanted all the attention like she got from you all and I will achieve that. It gives me so much peace to see her suffer everytime I taunt her. I will give her even more pain and if that will happen by marrying you then our marriage will happen.
She picked their engagement photo from the night stand and smirked tracing Krish’s face.
Roshni: I know it was only a mere infatuation you had on me and trust me Krish feelings are mutual but I can’t let you go easily. I have lot of plans to achieve using you. Now I have to convince you like always and I will do that.
On the other hand Myra dialled Keshav’s number and he answered in the first ring as always.
Keshav: How are you butterfly ?
Myra: Ketchup, I m fine. How are you ?
Keshav: I m good just held up with too much work this time and hardly finding time to sleep.
Myra: When will you be arriving home ?
Keshav: What happen ? Is everything ok ?
Myra: Nothing just I wanted to share something with you so tell me when will you be back ?
Keshav: This work is very important and I m trying to complete it at the earliest little one. Even I have something important to discuss with you but I want to complete my work so I will be back in two days and we shall talk. Is that ok or if it is emergency I can return tonight or early morning tomorrow.
Myra: No, just finish your job and we shall meet once you are back.
Keshav: Take care little one.
Myra hummed and cut the call looking at the invitations with no emotions on her face.
