Myra’s jaws dropped in shock and did not speak a word. Keshav shook her gently to get her attention.
Keshav: Butterfly, you can be shocked all way to home but now get ready. Amma and appa need us now.
Myra threw the duvet away and got down from the bed tying her hair in a bun.
Myra: Both brothers have mortgaged their brain and decided to eat our peace forever. One or the other thing happens everyday like a TV serial. Do I have to say about that over dramatic lizard ?
Keshav was stunned to see her outburst and gulped blinking his eyes. Myra picked a towel and walked to the washroom but Keshav was in her way still in shock.
Myra: Are we not getting late now ?
Keshav scuttled away to the next room to get ready and let a exasperated breathe holding his chest.
He called Rakesh to inform about their sudden decision to leave. He returned to the room and saw Myra was placing a bindi between her brows.
Keshav Mv: You have a long way to drive so better cool her for a better journey.
He ambled to her but took diversion when Myra glared at him through the mirror. They got in the car and Keshav started driving. An hour later he stopped before a restaurant and a guy came running holding a bag in his hand and passed it to Keshav.
Keshav passed the bag to Myra and thanked the guy before he started driving.
Keshav: That is the restaurant me, Rakesh and Varun used to have food so we are familiar with the people who work there. I called him to pack breakfast and buy some snacks and chocolates from the near by shop. Start eating you must be hungry.
Myra: Ofcourse I will eat. Why will I starve because of whatever you and your brother are doing?
Keshav smiled and tried to hide with his fist but that was too late. Myra slapped his arm gritting her teeth.
Myra: Why do you laugh now ? Do I look crazy to your eyes ?
Keshav: You look typical wife now. This is the first time you are showing this side and I m happy so continue but fill your little tummy first.
She opened a box and started eating the idly with the spoon. She stretched out a piece for him to eat and he started eating without denying. When they were done she gulped some water and passed the bottle to him. He turned the bottle to sip the water from where she did making her go red.
Keshav: Thanks for the kiss little one. You boosted my energy to drive.
Myra: Stop blabbering, I didn’t kiss you.
Keshav: Sort of indirect kiss and just reminding you that its been 50 hours to our last kiss. If you think that is my punishment then you succeeded in it. The most cruel punishment.
Myra: Stop flirting as if we are on a trip to our honeymoon. There is a storm waiting at home and I don’t know what will happen next. Why can’t this be dream and we could stay back for a little longer ?
Keshav: Don’t worry, once everything is solved, I will take you on a second honeymoon.
Myra: I know you are trying to distract my mind but ..but
Keshav held her hand and placed it over his thigh and squezeed a little.
Keshav: I know you are not ready to face him but trust me, we won’t stay for long. We need to be there to support our parents and we need answers to many questions. Later we shall go to our home. Don’t you want to have a tour of it and do whatever changes you wanted in it ? I m yet to show you a lot over there.
Myra: what is that ?
Keshav: Will you emit fire from your nose if I say it is a surprise ?
Myra: Ofcourse I will but this time I wanted to be surprised so I will spare you.
Keshav: I love you butterfly
Myra: I love you Ketchup. Let me sleep for a while. Wake me up if you want me to take over the driving.
Myra reclined her seat and covered her face with her dupatta to sleep. A few minutes later when he was sure she has fallen asleep he moved her dupatta and continued driving stealing glances at her.
It was almost 6 in the evevning when they reached home. Myra stood hesitating but Keshav held her hand raised her chin leading her inside. They were welcomed by the scene of Roshni crying and Archana trying to console her, Madan seated opposite to them.
Myra: Why is she crying now ? Did he marry her forcefully ? But there is no nuptial thread on her neck ? Did they do court marriage ? Didn’t she wanted to marry him then what happened now ?
Keshav: Prepare yourself not to be shocked and hold my hand. I m with you in this.
Myra was puzzled on hearing his words before she could question him Archana welcomed them. Myra looked at Archana who gave a neutral reaction. She felt a nudge and looked at Keshav gesturing her to look at Krish who just walked out of his room looking happy unlike Roshni.
Krish gulped in fear to the deadly glares Myra and Keshav were shooting at him. Myra peeked behind him hearing the sound of anklets and gasped with her eyes wide as saucers on seeing Naina walking out dressed in a silk saree and a nuptial thread around her neck.
Myra: Naina…
Naina: Myra.
On hearing Naina’s voice Roshni rose to her feet and rushed to her but Krish pushed Naina behind him.
Madan: We haven’t questioned them and waited for Roshni and you both to arrive. Roshni arrived new minutes before you both.
Keshav: I don’t think I have any rights to question him when he has long forgotten who I am to him.
Krish: Bro, Please. I m sorry, I have been a fool all these days and did everything out of stupidity but I had no bad intentions.
Keshav: That is for me to decide about your intentions.
Krish: Bro, you have all the rights over me and I will bear any punishment you give me but let me explain. It would be difficult to believe but the truth is we were seeing each other for quite some time.
Naina: One day I met him in a park crying under a tree. I talked to him and got to know that Roshni was torturing him. He used to call me to share his pain and we didn’t how and when we started to feel something special for each other but we didn’t express it with Roshni refusing to let him go.
Krish: I informed Roshni a lot of time that we won’t work but she played safe card using amma and uncle’s relationship. Even the last time I came to that decision only because she pestered me a lot. I couldn’t take it anymore, its too much to handle her. I just wanted to live a simple life and that will not happen with Roshni so I talked to Naina about what I felt for her and I felt it would be good we get married. Roshni will now be clear that I m really over her.
Krish looked at Naina and she ambled to Roshni and sat next to her.
Naina: Roshni, I know its hard for you to accept but you cannot force love on someone. He suffered enough so please let go of him.
Roshni rose to her feet and slapped Naina who fell on the couch. Myra couldn’t take her best friend being hurt so she rushed to Naina and helped her. It wasn’t difficult for her to read Naina’s face which was pleading. Myra smiled and held her hand in support. She looked at Keshav and he smiled understanding what she wanted him to do.
Krish: How dare you hit my wife ?
Roshni: Wife ? she will not be your wife.
Krish pulled Naina and snaked his arm around her waist standing before Roshni.
Krish: She is my wife and she is not like you. She listens to me, she try to understand my feelings, she gives me the space I wanted, she cares for me and she loves me. Its better you get this in your head.
Naina: Aunty, you know me for years. Do you think I will not be the perfect wife for Krish ? Haven’t you seen him suffer and doesn’t he deserve to live his life ?
Madan: He has done a lot of mistakes which makes difficult for us to trust his decisions.
Myra: Who doesn’t commit mistake appa ? Everyone does but wise people learn from it.
Roshni: Myra, were you in their plan or was it your plan to get them married ?
Keshav: Not a word against Myra. You and Krish had problem for a long time and you were forcefully holding on to the relationship. Don’t mistake me, this is for your own good. Get over this and move on in your life.
Roshni: He cheated on me and you want me to let go of him ?
Keshav: You both were at fault in your relationship so Krish alone cannot be blamed. Whatever we say would not convince you but take some time and you will feel that this was better for both of you, I mean not his marriage but the two of you parting is the best for you.
Roshni: What about my life ?
Keshav: I don’t think this should affect you because you both never got along after you got engaged. You both were on and off so you must have speculated the break up.
Roshni: I lost my everything and now I don’t even own a job.
Keshav: I will arrange for a job in any city you wanted. Move to a different place for some fresh air and sure you will feel better.
Krish: Me and Naina are flying to Bangalore to meet uncle and aunty.
Krish mumbled sorry looking at Myra but she averted her gaze from him.
Roshni: I will accompany them to Bangalore. I need to meet my parents.
Keshav: Go on your own. I can book tickets for you. Don’t interfere in their life.
Roshni: Who are you to order me ? Just because he is your brother you cannot force your decisions on me. I will file a compliant against you.
Myra: Watch out Roshni. I will not tolerate you disrespecting my husband. You lost everything today because of your own deeds so don’t blame anyone other than you.
Madan: We are patient because Krish made a mistake and we are trying to be nice with you since we could understand your pain but that doesn’t mean you will disrespect my son.
Roshni: Oh wow, a cute joint family standing against me.
Archana: Roshni, go to your room and rest for sometime. Krish go pack your things and leave before its too late.
Naina: I need to talk to Myra.
Everyone retired to their rooms leaving the friends and Myra was looking at Naina into her eyes.
Naina: Myra
Myra: Don’t Myra me. Why did you do this to yourself ? You could have talked to me.
Naina: My mother forced me and what you are thinking is right. This marriage may not be because of love but it is for love. I know what he did to you but trust me he never had any bad intentions against you.
Myra: Wow, he shared you the respect he gave to my friendship, the respect to his brother’s wife. Let him not face me until he is ready to answer me.
Naina: He is a fool and everything he did is foolish. He is trying to fix it and I m with him in that. If you trust me then trust him too.
Myra: Trust should be earned. How fucked my days are recently and he played an important role in that. Thank him on behalf of me.
Myra shook her head and returned to her room. Naina entered the room and krish pulled her to sit next to him passing the mobile to her.
Naina: Did you delete everything ?
Krish: There is nothing to delete. She must have saved all the photos and videos in the laptop so we need to find her laptop before she does something.
Naina: What do we do with her mobile now ?
Krish: Let it be with us. You had to bear her slap to steal this mobile. Lets leave now and I hope her laptop is at uncle’s home and if not we are doomed.
Naina: Myra is mad at us.
Krish: We can explain everything once we get the laptop. Lets leave now.
Naina got up and picked a casual outfit to change and entered the washroom. Krish packed his things and Naina walked out of the washroom all ready to leave.
Krish: Thank you Naina, for helping me.
Naina: Krish, you wanted to escape that bitch, I wanted to escape marrying my mother’s nephew but we both had one thing in common and that is to save Myra and your bro from that bitch’s trap so its a marriage of convenience for us and there is no need for thanks.
Krish: I really considered Myra my best friend, I still do but my possessiveness and jealousy over my brother’s bond with her failed me to set the boundary in the friendship. I regret everything I did but its too late. I lost my best friend.
Naina: No, she will understand when we explain her.
Krish: Bro ? He hates me already.
Naina: We could fix everything only if we reach Bangalore on time.
Krish nodded his head and they left in a cab to reach the airport.
Myra refreshed and hit the bed. Keshav opened his laptop and started hacking Naina’s mobile to check the call history and messages exchanged between Krish and Naina but to his surprise there was no calls or messages until the previous day.
Keshav Mv: Why did they lie about being in love when they haven’t been in contact ever and why did they get married all of a sudden ?
